Hockey lives everywhere
ASHC began with shirts I wanted to wear. I’ve always loved art and design, and I wanted to create clothing that reflected my connection to hockey, whether I was at the rink or out and about.
I started selling those designs to family, friends, and other parents at our rinks, using the money to help fund my daughter Aria’s travel hockey. Those first shirts brought together creativity, family, and a community willing to support one of its own. That’s where Aloha State Hockey Co. started, and those connections continue to shape ASHC today.
A family built around the game
I’m Roy Lezada, founder of ASHC, and hockey is a big part of our family’s life. I play, coach, referee, and help with youth practices. My daughters play too, so we spend plenty of time at the rink and traveling for tournaments. My wife, Mandy, is there watching and cheering us on. If you’ve been to any of our daughters’ games, you’ve definitely heard her.
Between playing, parenting, coaching, and volunteering, we’ve seen firsthand how hockey brings people together. We’ve also experienced the effort and expense it takes to keep young players in the game, especially when competing means traveling beyond the islands.

Hawaiʻi might not be the first place people associate with hockey, but there’s a dedicated community here playing outdoors, putting in the work, and finding ways to compete beyond the islands. Our crossed palm trees and hockey sticks bring those two parts of our identity together.
Our roots are in Hawaiʻi, but ASHC is for hockey people everywhere. Ice or inline, youth tournaments or beer league, players or the people cheering them on, you belong in this community. That’s what “Hockey Lives Everywhere” means to us.
ASHC stands for community, creativity, belonging, and love of the game. We make clothing designed to feel at home away from the rink as much as at it.
Looking ahead
Mandy and I also founded Aloha State Hockey Foundation, a separate nonprofit focused on reducing the financial barriers Hawaiʻi youth face in accessing hockey development and tournament opportunities. Supporting that mission is part of my long-term vision for ASHC, while the foundation remains a distinct organization from the apparel business.
